TRUE FEARLESSNESS-Abhaya!

TRUE FEARLESSNESS-Abhaya!

Fearlessness springs from seeing the face of God and feeling the connection with our Divine Nature. Fear lives in our hearts as a result of our disconnection from our true nature, and ignorance of God’s existence in every particle of life. The Agama Tantras mention that “God who frees us from fear, appears to the unlightened as fear itself.” Sally Kempton mentions in her CD Doors to the Infinite: “We tend to call on God most wSo Shiva/bhairava’s fearsome persona indicates that he is there for you when you are scared.” May we discover the meaning of TRUE FEARLESSNESS—Abhaya!hen we are most afraid…

October practice theme at NYSY: Alignment

In Abhaya Yoga Alignment is the first step of practice! But what does that translate in our daily practice, be it Yoga, Pilates, or any other form of exercise. This is a good question to ponder. For me, this is how I understand it today...

ANGER IS THE MAIN OBSTACLE TO OUR FREEDOM AND HAPPINESS

Most beneficial teachings for me right now are coming from Tibetan Buddhist teacher Thubten Chodron and her book WORKING WITH ANGER... "Anger can destroy our relationships with the people we value most and keep our mind bound in spirals of misery....

Vivi’s Healing Diary/India: Part 2 | Honoring our Feminine Divine Spirit:

My recent trip to India has filled me with a deep sense of gratitude, and appreciation for the Feminine Divine Spirit that appears in our life as the force of healing and connection with the fountain of infinite energy and power in life! I went there to be treated at an ayurvedic clinic situated in a tiny village called Hariharapura in Karnataka. Trying to cope with exhaustion and depletion for some time now, I knew that the kind of healing I was seeking was not only physical, but also spiritual. An eternal optimist, even lying in bed for several days while the treatment lasted, I knew that when you are clear about your intention and you state it clearly, the universe always answers.....

Vivi’s Healing Diary/India: Part 1.

In case you are wondering about my whereabouts, allow me to share my Indian news from Hariharapura in Karnataka, and Dr. Ashwin’s Ayurvedic Ashram and Clinic with you. The reason of my trip is that in the last couple of years I have been feeling a lasting wave of low energy. A deep exhaustion came over me just as I turned 50 and as menopause started, which was getting more and more severe with time. Thus I decided to follow the advice....

Yoga with Women from Vavel‏

Yoga with Women from Vavel‏

Yoga with Women through VAVEL—It is a program that we offer through the NGO organization VAVEL for refugees who were victims of physical torture and sexual abuse. Every Tuesday we start a bit shy and numb in the beginning, but with a secret anticipation. We breathe and take our stance, recognizing the earth that supports us, the air that we breathe as a force of power and support, the universe that supports us right this very momment. We move, opening slowly our timid, wounded body. At the end, deep relaxation. Again the feeling of the earth right underneath our bodies supports us. And we complete with a circle, lights still dimmed low, left palm accepting something from the palm of the friend seated on our left, right arm giving something to the friend seated on our right. Words fly gingerly as they enter us... la force, securite, amour, friendship, agapi... in 4-5 languages. It would not be fair to say that with this volunteer action I am helping these women... they are helping me with their generosity, with their tender, openly humane ways. They support me with the courage they haven’t lost and I go away full of their humanity and fearlessness. My own life has changed. Thank you, good luck, more power and courage to YOU. May the divine power that knows no borders and no limits watch over you and protect you.

The practice of Αhimsa—Non Violence—This week for us!

The practice of Abhaya—Fearlessness—is to look deeply and to work with the idea of Non-Violence, or Ahimsa, in our lives, thoughts and actions. The Sanskrit term Ahimsa denotes “not hurting”, or “having compassion”. Non-hurting others, or non-violence extends to all sentient beings, humans, animals and other living beings in nature, and to the earth herself...

How has my life changed—Auschwitz Bearing Witness Retreat, by Vivi Letsou

When I arrived at our Auschwitz “Bearing Witness Retreat” in Krakow/Polland, on November 2, 2015, I met people in this large group of “Zen Peacemakers” who have been coming to this retreat for five, ten or even 20 years. Everyone told me pretty much the same thing: “My life was changed here,” or, “Your life will never be the same again.” Upon my return to Athens, talking to my yoga class, I heard the same words coming from my mouth.....

“Bearing Witness Retreat in Auschwitz”

Join me at the Auschwitz/Birkenau Bearing Witness Retreat on November 2-6, 2015 For years I have been wanting to go to a “Bearing Witness Retreat in Auschwitz” organized by Bernie Glassman, head of Zen Peacemaker Order. This year, the call has become stronger, maybe due to the dire situation with the Greek economy, politics, and the recent refugee crisis. Buddhism reminds us that we are not-separate, and that at the heart of our being a great power continues to shine inwardly and radiate outwardly no matter what the external circumstances may be. One does not need to close up during times of crisis; quite the contrary, one relaxes and opens up through giving and compassion.....

YOGA REVOLUTION & VOLUNTEER ACTION

Nancy & Vivi’s dream: Tantric Studies—Sally Kempton—Meditation—Assisi, Italy!

Sally Kempton shares during her meditation retreat in Assisi, June 26: “The vision of transformation in contemporary teachings is about an evolving consciousness that involves a constant dialog between our yoga practice/prayer/contempating (where we begin to touch the ground of our being, or fall completely into the present moment, or have an experience of God) and our exterior or every day life. And then we come out with our insight or openness of that interior experience and take it out into our world experience. Then we begin to realize that our external lives and relationships are being transformed by that inner experience Real transformation is: the dialog between what happens when you close your eyes and when you open your eyes. For example: You have a dilemma or a difficult question and you sit in meditation and take the question inside and somehow through that process of going into silence you understand something that you couldn’t understand or something changes that you couldn't change before. Our internal process is about connecting us with that source of pure being, presence, shakti, invisible presence. That presence becomes more visible and transforms situations in our lives. "
